Brush It Off
Brush It Off Baby, Don’t Let it Get To You
“You’re gonna make it through.”
I’m excited to announce that, “Brush It Off,” aka “B-I-O,” is the official debut solo pop dance song I’m releasing in early 2021.
The catchy lyrics and upbeat electronic pop dance sound is sure to empower, uplift and jump-start your new year! I came up with the song concept over a decade ago during a time I needed words to elevate me from feeling like the world was coming down on me.
At the time I originally started writing words to the song, “brush it off baby, don’t let it get to you,” naturally came to me and provided me with comfort and reassurance that no matter what obstacles in life I had to face, that I was going to dig deep, trust my instincts and make it through.
Today there are millions of people who have lost their homes, lost their jobs, a loved one to COVID-19 and are dealing with some of the lowest points in their lives. I wanted my debut solo song to be a source for people out there to feel better, inspire them and encourage them to keep it moving.
B-I-O is a modern pop dance song for anyone today who is looking for an uplifting and positive song to bop to.
The song celebrates empowerment, diversity, confidence, wisdom, and strength.
Whether you’re having a bad day, dealing with negativity, obstacles that might seem too much to handle or if you simply are looking for a song that reinforces the message that you can handle anything life throws at you, this pop dance anthem is for you!
On each and every project I’ve released, whether it’s an episode of the interactive lifestyle YouTube series, “Your Time With Thomas" or music, I like to put out content that has a message behind it and empowers the viewer or listener to live their best life and be the very best version of themselves.
During the creative process, I asked my friend Stevie Mackey, a singer and a vocal coach to artists like Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez & Jhene Aiko to listen to the song. He provided me with a lot of helpful musical notes and advice to get B-I-O in better shape.
I co-wrote this song with Dexter Giffard, an artist from Trinidad who amplified the song even further with his masterful words. We teamed up with Argentinian producers Jay Cruz and Luke Villemur to give it the electronic pop sound I was aiming for. We all spent a lot of time in the recording studio and on zoom meetings making countless revisions and crafting it to fit the modern pop dance vibe I was going for.
The sound from, “Brush It Off,” was inspired by recording artist Justin Bieber, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga, three artists who I’ve listened to and been a fan of since day one.
For the music video, I really wanted to do something unique and timeless. I’ve always loved watching music videos that include a storyline, a lot of continuous dancing and moving parts so I promise you that this music video will embrace all of those key elements.
Expect a lot of iconic choreography throughout the entire video where we don’t stop dancing till the very last second. I spent hours with my back-up dancers and my choreographer, Eddie Valenzuela, to get every dance move down.
The B-I-O music video is vibrant, fun, exciting but also depicts important subject matters like mental health, the Black Lives Matter movement, highlighting the LGBTQ community and much more.
We have a partnership with one of the largest organizations in the world, collaborated with an A-list fashion designer who’s dressed stars like Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Cardi B as well as a product placement endorsement from a global environmental conscious brand that I can’t wait to reveal in the future before the music video release.
I know you’ll want to watch it more than once to catch everything in this fast-paced pop dance music video. Be sure to catch my beautiful niece and some familiar faces in the video!
Brush It Off will be released soon. You’ll be able to download, stream and purchase the song on all music platforms like Apple Music & Spotify.
The music video produced by myself and co-directed by Jimmy Page will also premiere in early 2021.
